I first went to Italy over 20 years ago and always knew I would return one day. Initially thinking we might go to Italy in the Fall of 2020 for our 10th wedding anniversary we kept it on our short list of places to visit until the timing worked out after the pandemic. So how did we land on these three cities? Rome was an obvious choice for my husband’s first visit to Italy and a professional tennis match was also happening in May. I have never been south of Rome and wanted to go somewhere in the Amalfi Coast which led us to Capri. We picked Florence as the third city due to ease of travel from Capri and flights back to the United States.
We spent four days in Rome, three days in Capri, and then end with three days in Tuscany based out of Florence.
Here are the highlights:
Exploring Capri

The food

The spritzes, of course!

Private boat ride around Capri

The Colosseum underground tour in Rome

The duomo climb in Florence

We had a great time and would pick Capri as the overall highlight of the trip. Head on over to my Rome, Capri, and Florence, Pisa, San Gimignano pages to read more about our vacation in Italy, to see what we did and where we ate.
Question: I hope I don’t wait another 20 years before returning to Italy. What city or country is on your bucket list to revisit?
