NYC | Brooklyn

I have been coming to New York City (NYC) since I was a kid in the 1980s. Nearly all of my trips to NYC have been to Manhattan. I went to Brooklyn for the first time in December of 2022 during a three day trip to Manhattan. I spent the afternoon with a friend and her boyfriend, who was our local tour guide. The photo above is from Brooklyn Bridge Park where you get a fantastic view of lower Manhattan.

Note: I will continue to update this page with new information, so come back often!

Williamsburg

A great introductory neighborhood and often referred to as the coolest neighborhood due to the hipster culture and many places to eat, drink, and be entertained. We had brunch at Leuca, located in the William Vale hotel. This would be a great hotel choice if you plan to stay in Brooklyn. After lunch spend some time exploring the area nearby.

Brooklyn Heights

Head to Brooklyn Heights to check out the residential brownstones that this area is known for and then head to Brooklyn Bridge Park for a view of the Statue of Liberty and lower Manhattan. Check out my Instagram NYC story @champagneonplanes to see a video from this location. Afterwards, head up Montague Street and stop for a beverage at Custom House.

We walked from Brooklyn Heights to Park Slope and passed by the Barclays Center along the way.

Park Slope

A residential area with tree-lined streets and brownstones with some of the remaining gas lamps that used to be seen throughout Brooklyn. We walked along 5th Avenue where many of the boutiques and restaurants are located. I could have spent an entire day on this street alone, but we were enroute to Union Hall, a bar with a library and bocce courts. I will be back for more champagne in the library next time I am in Brooklyn.

Question: What is your favorite Brooklyn neighborhood? Where else should I go in Brooklyn?
