Dubrovnik

10.17.2024 || Dubrovnik || Croatia

After spending a day in Split, we set sail for Dubrovnik. We were on the starboard side of the ship. We had to wait until breakfast to get our first glimpse of Dubrovnik.

This port required us to anchor a short distance from the port.

We had to take a smaller tender boat to the dock. Here are photos from inside the tender boat.

We signed up for a Viking organized walking tour. We met up with a local guide to get acquainted with the city and its history. Within the towering medieval wall are 12th century pedestrian streets and squares. Even in the rain, it was stunning.

Living within the walled city is a serious stair workout!

Our guide found us some coverage form the rain inside a monastery, now a museum.

It was still raining when the tour ended so we headed back to the ship for lunch.

Determined to see more of Dubrovnik aka King’s Landing, we headed back over to walk the medieval wall. We entered at the north wall and walked the entire loop counter clockwise.

This is definitely a slow leisurely walk with lots of tourists.

Here are some of my favorite photos from the walk.

Cersei’s Walk of Shame from Game of Thrones.

My sister-in-law recommend a literal hole in the wall on the side of a cliff. Buza Bar is a no frills, cash-only bar. If you can find it, it is an ideal spot to take a break and enjoy the views.

We stood in line at Holy Burek for an afternoon snack. They sold thin slices of flaky dough opposed to the traditional slices. We enjoyed a spinach and cheese burek to go.

We window shopped and picked up some souvenirs as we made our way back to the ship. We spent the rest of the afternoon on the ship.

Next stop: Kotor, Montenegro!

Check out the rest of our Viking cruise adventures! Here is what we did at the other stops: Venice, Split, Corfu, Katakolon (Olympia), and Athens.

Question: What tours or experiences would you recommend we do next time in Dubrovnik?
