Singapore: More than a stopover

This year started with an epic trip spanning two weeks to Southeast Asia. I booked a boutique-style small group trip for women to Cambodia through Adventurously Yours, run by my neighbor, Angie, who is a travel advisor. Her carefully curated group trips have always sparked my curiosity. I knew right away that joining the Cambodia trip would be an unforgettable experience, as the agenda looked perfectly tailored to offer us a deep dive into the local culture, history, and exquisite landscapes. Every detail was meticulously arranged, providing us with peace of mind from the moment we landed in Cambodia until we were dropped off at the airport for our return flight.

Given that the trip was a week long, my childhood friend and I decided to start our adventure somewhere else to get a head start on adjusting to the time zone, hoping that this would enhance our overall experience. Singapore quickly emerged as the clear winner for our round trip flight from the United States to Southeast Asia, not only due to its strategic location but also because of the various tourist attractions that everyone has always spoken so highly of, from its iconic skyline to the mouthwatering hawker food to keep you fueled between activities.

The food was amazing! From endless choices at the bustling food halls to the exquisite taste of chili crab, every bite was a culinary adventure. The hotel breakfast buffet was equally impressive with a spread of both local delights and international favorites, ensuring that each morning began with a feast that energizes you for the day ahead. Whether you were indulging in hawker center delights or savoring high-end dining experiences, Singapore truly is a food lover’s paradise.

The drinks were refreshing after long days of exploring. From the fancy hotel lobby coffee that kept me going and energized that first day, to the hotel spritzes as I lounged by the pool after hours of exploring the city. I also enjoyed the iconic Singapore Slings with my fellow travelers.

The lush gardens were like nothing I have ever seen. From the massive Orchid Exhibit at the Botanical Garden to the stunning displays at the Flower Dome and the immersive experience of the Cloud Forest, I was captivated by the vibrant colors and the fragrant blooms all around. Each area offers a unique atmosphere, inviting visitors to explore and appreciate the intricate designs and the variety of plant species. As I wandered through the meticulously landscaped grounds, I found myself lost in the tranquility and splendor that surrounded me, making it a truly unforgettable experience within an urban, modern city.

Besides the food, the drinks, and the beautiful gardens, there are some other captivating scenes around Singapore that truly enrich the experience. From the bustling streets of Chinatown filled with busy markets to the serene views at Marina Bay Sands, this city-state offers a mix of urban life and natural beauty.

Each corner of Singapore has its own story, waiting to be discovered. Check out my full recap to see how I spent three unforgettable days in Singapore filled with adventures, cultural encounters and stunning sights that you won’t want to miss.
