DC Metro Area: Things to do in West Virginia

Note: this page will not list every place that I ever went to. I will continue to update these links with new information so come back often!

Harper’s Ferry National Historic Park located in West Virginia, Virginia, and Maryland

We visited in January 2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic. Located approximately 60 miles northwest of Falls Church where West Virginia, Virginia, and Maryland meet along with the Potomac and Shenandoah Rivers. There are plenty of hiking options depending on how much time and energy you have. We opted for the Maryland Heights trail and ended up covering six miles (and 1,400 feet elevation gain) in two and a half hours. I recommend getting there early and parking in the Harper’s Ferry train station parking lot.

If you come from Virginia, Harper’s Ferry Brewing in Purcellville, VA is a great post hike spot for local craft beers, outdoor seating, and awesome views.
