People often ask me what my favorite trip has been. That’s a hard question to answer but Barcelona is always on top of the list. This trip marked my fifth time in Spain and my third time in Barcelona.
I studied Spanish in high school, minored in Spanish Studies in college, and swam on a college team with several Spanish teammates. I was fortunate to train and compete in Spain twice during college. My first two visits to Barcelona were back to back in 2001 and 2002 so a bit of time had passed since I returned to Barcelona in 2011.
Each of my prior visits were usually part of a larger trip where I was visiting many places in a short period of time so I wanted to spend an entire week in Barcelona and experience the city all over again. We spent a total of six nights in Barcelona with a quick overnight side trip to Tarragona in the middle of the week.
Here are some photo highlights from the trip with a full recap on my Barcelona page.

Question: Have you been to Barcelona? Do you have a favorite place to eat tapas?
