Scottsdale, AZ: It’s a Dry Heat

We had a blast at a resort in Florida with tennis amenities back in March and decided to stick with a similar itinerary as we ease back into traveling. We wanted to go somewhere warm and landed on Scottsdale since Arizona is known for its weather and hot desert climate. I planned a three night trip to celebrate my birthday in mid-May with a few goals in mind: eat at Mexican and Southwestern inspired restaurants, take tennis lessons, relax at the pool, and book spa appointments. I found an option in the Sonoran Desert in Scottsdale, Arizona that made it possible to do all of those things, if you planned far enough in advance. I will be back for spa appointments! Even without a massage, it was the ultimate way to relax for a few days.

Here are some highlights:

Sunday brunch at Toca Madera, a modern approach to Mexican food and design. The highlights were a prickly pear cactus mimosa, a fun popsicle cocktail, huevos rancheros, and birthday churros with two dipping sauces.

The activities at the Boulders Resort & Spa kept us busy on the nature trails, at the pools, and on the tennis courts.

Checking out the different types of Sonoran Desert cactus located throughout the Boulders Resort & Spa property.

Head on over to my Scottsdale page to read more about our vacation in the Sonoran Desert.

QuestionHave you been to Arizona? Where else should we go?
